When teaser photos of the new Acura ZDX crossover concept vehicle leaked late last week, we were struck with this crazy idea that we might actually like it. Perhaps it was the result of too many hours spent secluded in our poorly-lit office hunched in front of our laptop for 20+ hours a day with little nutrition beyond amphetamines and goldfish crackers with which to sustain us, but for whatever reason, we were harboring this idea that the Acura ZDX was going to be a leather-upholstered, luxury version of the ass-hauling Subaru Impreza WRX STi. We were, of course, wrong.
Apparently intended to compete with the BMW X6 (good luck with that Acura, have you seen the X6 M?), the Acura ZDX Concept that bowed at the NY Auto Show is a prototype version of the luxury 4-door “sports coupe” that is tentatively scheduled to hit the Acura lineup around 2010-11. Although the specifications are always subject to change, the design language of the ZDX prototype is just unexciting enough to indicate that the final production model will likely differ very little. Beneath the hood, the Acura ZDX prototype is powered by an aluminum VTEC V6, the specifications of which Acura has decided to withhold for the time being, but rest assured that it will most likely be as uninspiring as the rest of the vehicle.

2009 Acura TL Earns Brand A Spot In NHTSA, IIHS History

Fantasies can sometimes become a reality and today we can boldly say this is true. Over the years in movies and cartoons we have seen lots of fantasies like a car diving under water and in some case flying. Such can be seen in one of James Bond 007 movie “The Spy Who Loved Me” where his car transformed into a scuba car when it dives underwater, then it was a fantasy but today it is a reality. A scuba car that operates both on land and underwater was produced in 2008. However, even though that has become a reality, it will not been seen on the streets or in the oceans any time soon because of its price tag. Furthermore, cartoon like the “The Jetsons and danger mouse” gives us insight of what the future holds in terms of their car operating terrestrially and aerially when the need arises. Conversely, through research and development that has become a reality and today we have the Terrafugia flying car. Terrafugia is both a car and a plane in one. It is the first flying automobile that can transform and take to the sky or remain on the road as car. It can further be described as a transition vehicle or road-able aircraft.link...

Acura XUV Concept Teasers Drop Pre-NY Auto Show
Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 4:39 AM | 0 comments

Scheduled to officially debut at the 2009 New York Auto Show in April, Acura’s new crossover concept vehicle gave us the digital equivalent of a cheap lap dance today with its appearance in 5 new teaser photos. Profiled in shadows (or, as we like to say, “the sober man’s beer goggles”), the only clear image we’re able to glean is that of the concept’s profile which, oddly enough, appears to be a little reminiscent of the 370Z. Since Acura’s press department is sitting on the official release for now, we aren’t able to confirm anything else about the new concept aside from the fact that it will be a 4-door, coupe-inspired XUV most likely intended to compete with the BMW X6

Acura ZDX Prototype Teases Us With Shadowy Nudes
at 4:38 AM | 0 comments

Planned for official introduction in a few weeks at the 2009 New York International Auto Show, the Acura ZDX on display is a prototype version of the luxury 4-door sport coupe scheduled to hit dealerships later this fall. Although the teaser images released today reveal relatively little of the Acura ZDX’s actual body, and despite the fact that the ominous “luxury wagon” description conjures up foreboding images of a jade green Mercedes E350 with Michael Bolton perpetually cued up in the CD changer, Acura’s penchant for aggressive, sporty styling lends us a glimmer of hope. Thus, in a rarely seen (yet still begrudging) gesture of admiration, we’ll admit that were are intrigued by the Acura ZDX. Not only that, but we’d even go so far as to say that we wouldn’t mind seeing it enter production, provided, of course, that it maintains the upper-class STi vibe and doesn’t cross into frumpy grocery-getting territory (we’re looking at you, BMW 328i Sports Wagon

2009 Acura TL Earns Brand A Spot In NHTSA, IIHS History
at 4:37 AM | 0 comments

As a committed Volvo fanboygirl, allow me to start by saying that yes, Acura might be safe now, but Volvo was safe first.
Thanks to what Acura is billing as their “steadfast dedication to passenger safety” (or “steadfast dedication to turning a profit”), Honda’s luxury brand has officially become the first brand to receive top marks from both the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) for every vehicle in its line-up. After slowly but surely teaching the safety dance (sorry, there was a thing on VH1 last night, it got stuck in our heads, you know how it is) to every new model, Acura was finally able to claim their victory this week after the NHTSA wrapped up testing on the 2009 Acura TL

VOLKSWAGEN LAUNCHES ‘CARS OF THE FUTURE

Volkswagen has launched a new website to give us an idea of the types of cars that will be on our streets in 2028. The core of the site is an interactive short film giving the viewers an informative and entertaining glimpse of the future. VW research developers and designers describe the three main concepts on show: the “one”, “ego” and “room”. This is the sporty two-seater ‘ego’. Press release below.

WOLFSBURG, Germany – When will vehicles communicate with traffic lights? Will there be traffic jams in the future? Can driving emission-free vehicles be fun? Automobile fans of all ages can find informative and entertaining answers to these and many other questions at www.Volkswagen2028.com.

The Wolfsburg-based automaker presents its vision of the automotive world 20 years from now in this ground-breaking Webspecial. The lavishly designed website centers around a short interactive film which gives the viewer an informative and entertaining introduction to the subject. In the film, which takes place in 2028, a father tells his son about the automobile world of 20 years ago, while the present-day Internet user can select any of numerous links to take a look at the automotive future. Developers and designers from Volkswagen Research accompany users on their journey and explain the visions of tomorrow’s automotive world in simple language, providing fascinating insights into today’s technological approaches aimed at paving the way for a sustainable and innovative future. At the same time, these insights underscore the Volkswagen brand’s claim to already epitomize “Das Auto.” and the brand’s vision to be the world’s most innovative high-volume automaker.

“Our designers and developers have created three innovative vehicle concepts exclusively for this Webspecial in order to illustrate the automotive world of tomorrow. We have called them ‘one’, ‘ego’, and ‘room.’ They give an idea of the shape that our visions of the future could take. They demonstrate how the cars of the future can communicate with traffic lights, how holographic displays in the cockpit can assist the driver and how we can generate even more driving pleasure and still keep our cars emission-free,” Jochen Sengpiehl, Head of Marketing, Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, explained

Aren’t all those fighter jets those sturdy pilots fly awesome? Haven’t you ever wanted to be in one of those war planes? Well, if you can’t be in one of those planes, you might as well buy a car that looks like that. Tramontana Group has unveiled the Tramontana R Edition which is modeled on a jet plane. It comes with an awesome 760 horsepower and weighs 2,750 pounds. It also measures 16 foot and will reach 100mph in just 3.6 seconds.

It also reaches 200mph in about 10 seconds. You could actually blaze the highway with a vehicle like this. It costs an awesome $495,000 and is well with the buy. Don’t hesitate thinking it is too expensive, just go ahead and get this awesome car for yourself!

Highway in the Sky: Move Over Hybrid, Enter the Skycar

Remember watching Back to the Future Part II, where they travel to 2015 (less than 8 years away) and the highways are in the sky? Back in 1989, this future seemed light years away and totally probable. Gotta love the movies! Now, Moller International is creating ‘flying saucer’ like cars that have eight engines which can run on petrol, diesel or even ethanol and fly 10ft. off the ground. With the skycar, rush hour is no longer an issue. Sound too good to be true — it probably is (for now.) You can get your own flying saucer in a few months for close to $1 million

The Future of Cars

Fantasies can sometimes become a reality and today we can boldly say this is true. Over the years in movies and cartoons we have seen lots of fantasies like a car diving under water and in some case flying. Such can be seen in one of James Bond 007 movie “The Spy Who Loved Me” where his car transformed into a scuba car when it dives underwater, then it was a fantasy but today it is a reality. It is the first flying automobile that can transform and take to the sky or remain on the road as car. It can further be described as a transition vehicle or road-able aircraft.

Audi Calamaro the car that can fly you away!

Thank God for the four little silver circles because otherwise not many people would believe us this is a car. Yes, it’s an Audi, but one like you have never seen before. It’s beyond what we’re used to calling a concept car. Audi has come up with a flying car. The futuristic vision appeals to all science fiction fans as it has no wheels but I’m not that sure that this concept will ever become a reality because it is not a practical car, it has no trunk and there’s hardly room for two people in there. But who even needs it to be practical after all; one can only dream of the freedom it would offer. Sure fact, I would take it for a spin!

In Nissan NV200, Function Becomes The Aesthetic

Nissan NV200 is dedicated to small business professionals that always on the move. This car exterior might not appeal too much for design conscious people but the NV200 has a very nice interior design that worth considering. Take a look inside Nissan NV200, you’ll get the impression that this particular model is built for professional oceanic photographer, a full equipment-specific storage to a full computer workstation is ready to use. Definitely not just a regular small van but one with innovative and smart design to suit any people with different lifestyle.

GUMPERT Apollo Speed

Powered by a 4,163 cm3 V8 engine coupled with a sequential six-speed gear box with synchronization and oil cooling that send the power to the rear wheels, GUMPERT apollo speed may outputs 700 HP/ 515 kW at 6,500 rpm and 875 Nm / 645,3 lb ft of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Ferrari 430 Scuderia

These are the first photos of the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia, which you will be able to see in person at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007, unveiled by none other than Michael Schumacher.

The new Ferrari 430 Scuderia joins it’s siblings the F430 coupƃ© and the F430 Spider, and has a weight-to-power ratio of just 2.45 kg per hp thanks to a low dry weight of just 1250 kg Ć¢€“ 100 kg less than the F430.

Sitting in the engine bay is a 4.3 liter naturally aspirated V8 making 510 horsepower at 8,500rpm - a horsepower to displacement ratio of more than 100 horses per liter. This engine is mated to an F1 Superfast gearbox which shifts in 50 milliseconds.

The new model is a special series based on the F430 and is aimed specifically at Ferraris most passionate and sports-driving oriented clients. It uses an E-Diff electronic differential and F1-Trac traction and stability control combined in a single integrated system, tuned for a sporty drive naturally, one that is deserving of being in a Ferrari.

The new Ferrari F450

Four-of-a-kind For Ferrari At Le Mans

An extraordinary result for the F430 GT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: four Berlinette from Maranello on the first four places in the GT2 class at the end of the oldest and most prestigious endurance race in the world. This is the second success in a row for Giuseppe Risi’s team at Le Mans with an “encore” in 2009 after the victory at the 12 Hours

Ferrari F430 Special For Abruzzo

Staking out a very safe place as Ferrari's highest development of the production mid-engine V8 berlinetta - thus far, at least - the F430 has seen a 5-year lifespan, and will soon be replaced. When the final car rolls off the line later this year, it will be auctioned off to support the people impacted by the recent earthquake at Abruzzo.

The auction will be conducted by RM Auction this Sunday, May 17, and will be for the rights to the last F430, which will be painted with a unique two-tone livery in the colors of Aquila, the city hit hardest by the earthquake. Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo will also include a signed certificate and a personalized dedication plate to the winning bidder.

The New 2009 Ferrari F60

The F60 is the fifty fifth single-seater built by Ferrari specifically to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship.

The most substantial changes have been made to the aerodynamic formula, which has dictated a bigger front wing and a much narrower rear aerofoila. The design also takes into account two other significant changes in the 2009 regulations: the possibility of using a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and the reintroduction of "slick" tyres.

Ferrai Scuderia Spider 16M Completes Run In Under 1 Minute

At the 2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed Ferrari showcased three models, the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M, the Ferrari California and the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano with HGTE package. One of brand's most important achievements at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed is the record, under 1 minute, run of the Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M in the supercar event. The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M managed to complete the 1.16 mile hillclimb in 59 seconds.

The Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M will be built in a limited run of 499 cars and is powered by a 4.3 liter V8 engine with 510 hp and 470 Nm of torque

2010 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano HGTE

At the 2009 Geneva Motor Show next week, Ferrari will hold two world premiers both having to do with its 599 GTB Fiorano.

Ferrari has developed a new track focused handling package for the car. Called the Handling Grand Turismo Evoluzione (HGTE), the new upgrade will help add some spice to the 599 as it draws toward the end of its product cycle.

GTA Spano supercar debuts in Valencia

Anything you can do, I can do...also. That seems to be the modus operandi of the Spanish auto industry vis-a-vis the Italians. So while Volkswagen is vying to reshape its Seat subsidiary into an Iberian version of Alfa Romeo, Spanish racing team GTA has been hard at work developing its own supercar to rival the best from Ferrari and Lamborghini. After months of speculation on our part and preparation on theirs, the GTA Spano has finally made its debut in Valencia, the same Mediterranean coastal city that hosts the European Grand Prix. While only limited details were revealed at the Spano's launch, our compadres over at AB Spanish got it covered.

Underneath the rather generic supercar body lies the beating heart of the beast: an 8.3-liter V10, purportedly sourced from the Dodge Viper, and tuned to deliver 780 horsepower. That's said to be good enough to propel the carbon, kevlar and titanium supercar to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a don't-blink-or-you'll-miss-it 2.9 seconds. The engine is mated to a choice of seven-speed paddle-shifter, automatic or gated manual transmission, 19" wheels coated in ultra-low-profile rubber grip the road at all fours, and the engine is even designed to burn straight alcohol if so desired. Production will be limited to 99 examples, each available at a price of around $670,000. Given GTA's racing background, a competition version is also expected to be in the works, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the images in the gallery below and the details in the press release after the jump.

Australian website gets first spin in GTA Spano

We're spoiled, us supercar fans. With so many awesome road-munching beasts on the market, we've grown jaded. Which may go some ways towards explaining the general reaction to the GTA Spano. Here's an accomplished racing team unveiling an 840-horsepower, mid-engined V10 supercar and all anyone could say was "ho-hum, another cookie-cutter supercar from a new upstart."

Admittedly, the apathy was mostly centered on the Spano's styling, for which the initial batch of photos didn't do any favors. But a machine as promising as the GTA Spano at least deserves a second glance, and we're glad the good folks over at CarAdvice.com.au got a chance to give us exactly that. (A little jealous, mind you, but glad nonetheless.)

These real-world photos reveal the unique lines in the Spano's design, especially the arc that swirls around the greenhouse and melds into the rear spoiler, giving the Spano a fluid yet aggressive shape. But don't take our word for it, see for yourself in the high-res gallery below.

As if to compound our jealousy, our friends down under also got to spend some time behind the wheel. But though that's on embargo until September when the production-spec model hits the market, they've given us a little teaser video, which we've included after the jump. Oh, and one more thing: Spano also says they're working on a supercharged version, which promises to boost the Dodge Viper-sourced V10 to stratospheric levels of output. The future's looking bright.

(From Citroen Press Release)
CITROƋN C-CACTUS: A NEW ECOLOGICAL AND ATTRACTIVE TAKE ON THE ESSENTIAL CAR

Citroƫn is unveiling C-Cactus at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. This ingenious concept is a new take on vehicle design, centered on essential values. The Marque's ambitious aim is to market an ecological hatchback with cheerful, attractive styling, equipped with a hybrid HDi drivetrain and sold at the same price as an entry-level C4.

To square this complex equation, Citroƫn is exploring new forms of design. It has decided to abandon features that are not essential to comfort and to focus instead on technology, styling and equipment that are positive, ecological and valued by users.

• Essential, intelligent and ecologically aware
C-Cactus is an ecological car. It includes a significant proportion of recycled or recyclable materials and, like the plant it is named after, it is low on consumption. Weighing just 1,306 kg and featuring a hybrid HDi drivetrain, C-Cactus consumes 3.4 l/100 km for CO2 emissions of 78 g/km.
At the same time, C-Cactus is no more expensive than a mid-range family car. Its low production cost can be attributed to the use of new materials and to a rational design process using a smaller number of parts. The cabin is made up of just over 200 parts, i.e. almost half the number used by a conventional hatchback of identical size.

• An attractive and modern vehicle
C-Cactus is an essential car, with sharp styling and attractive features. Its curves give it a fun look and strong appeal, while the angles and rounded lines of the bodywork underline its dynamic character.
C-Cactus sets high standards of onboard comfort with a roomy interior that is worthy of a family car. It is 4.2 metres long and 1.8 metres wide with a wide range of equipment including air conditioning with automatic temperature control, a high-quality audio system, a panoramic glass sunroof, cruise control and a speed limiter.

$2,300 Tata Nano headed for the United States in 2 years06-20-09

Tata Motor’s boss, has very ambitious plans for the Nano, the $2,000 car which was officially introduced this March, but created a lot of buzz ever since the first details about the project were announced. According to Mr. Tata, we might see the Nano in the United States within two years, priced at $2,300. “It will need to meet all emission and crash standards and so we hope in the next two years we will be offering such a vehicle in the U.S,” Ratan Tata told a panel at the Cornell Global Forum on Sustainable Global Enterprise late Wednesday. There’s also an European version of the Nano, which is scheduled to debut on the ‘old continent’ in 2011.

Mercedes McLaren SLR 722 GT

Under the body, the car has shed 398 kg and reduced its dry weight to 1300 kg (2866 lb). The engine remains in relatively stock specification but now produces 500 kW (680 bhp) and 830 N·m (612 ft·lbf) at 1.75 bar (175 kPa) boost. Inside, the car is stripped out with only the essential functions being controlled from a carbon fiber binnacle. New carbon fiber door panels and full roll cage complete the transformation. Only 21 examples of the 722 GT are planned to be made, all of which will be for racing use only. Each costs upward of €750,000.

2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster – Spied

In the months leading up to the September debut of its SLS AMG Gullwing, Mercedes-Benz has teased enthusiasts by pulling off the coupe’s camo bit by bit—and revealing the entire interior—like some sort of exotic dancer slowly peeling off her clothes. Now she’s going topless, as evidenced by these spy shots of the SLS roadster.

Honda to Build CR-Z and Fit Hybrids in 2010

Honda announced today that it will add two new hybrids to its lineup in late 2010: a gas-electric version of the compact Fit and a production version of the CR-Z concept from 2007. Both will use some form of the Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system found in the Civic hybrid and current Insight. Neither of the newly confirmed models were well-kept secrets; we reported on their arrival way back in May 2008.

The versatile Fit is one of our favorite small cars, with the first U.S. version garnering back-to-back 10Best awards in 2007 and 2008 and its successor making our 2009 list. We fear the dilution of its spunky fun-to-drive character that hybridization might bring, but the Insight could provide a bit of, er, insight; it’s somewhat interesting to drive, if not particularly thrilling. Batteries could eat up some of the Fit’s impressive interior room, although given the smart packaging of the car’s fuel tank—which is under the front seats—we’re hopeful Honda will come up with a similarly innovative way to retain as much space as possible. In our previous report, Honda is quoted as saying the Fit hybrid will carry a premium of $2000 or less over the conventional model, and the company now adds it will debut by the end of next year.

Lamborghini Reventon

In The World: Top 10 List

What is the most expensive car in the world? The 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe was sold for $8,700,000 in 1987. However, that car and many alike will not be included in this list because it is not available on the market today. It is hard to imagine someone would actually spend 8 million dollars on a car instead of using it for something more productive. However, if you have the money and the opportunity, you will definitely spend a small fraction of it to place a few of these supercars in your garage. Here is the 10 most expensive production cars on the market.

1. Bugatti Veyron $1,700,000. This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It claims to be the fastest car with a top speed of 253 mph+. However, the title for the fastest car goes to the SSC Ultimate Aero which exceed 253 mph pushing this car to 2nd place for the fastest car.

Stupid guy tricks: Norwegian telecom guy makes like Kobe and jumps his Koenigsegg

There is truth to the old saying “boys will be boys” and country of origin rarely has anything to do with it. When the size of the boy’s wallets increases, usually so does the value of their toys not to mention their competitiveness.

Show a video of Kobe Bryant jumping an Aston to a Norwegian telecom entrepreneur and what happens? You get Idar Vollvik attempting to go viral on the goo toobz by jumping his own Koenigsegg CSX. We are told that Idar is quite the accomplised martial artist, so I don’t doubt that he actually did accomplish this feat

Poll: Fritz says there will be no Chevrolet, Buick G8. Would you buy one if there was?

It’s no secret that GM will phase out the Pontiac brand in 2010 with the 2010 Pontiac Vibe being the last model from the brand. Even though the Pontiac G8 is the most loved Pontiac model after the GTO, GM’s CEO Fritz Henderson is not a fan of keeping it alive.

Fritz has said over-and-over again that the G8 will not live on as a model in one of its four-core brands. There was some hope earlier this month when GM’s vice chairman of global product development Tom Stephens, said that the Pontiac G8 may survive with another GM badge.

Well, Fritz has blatantly rejected the idea once again. In his second online-chat with media and analysts on Friday, Fritz was asked whether or not “Pontiac G8 have any kind of future within General Motors as a re-badged model.” Fritz simply replied “I am not a fan of rebadging.”

What is it going to take to convince Fritz that Americans love and want the G8 to live on? Driving a bunch of G8s to the Renaissance Center may be one option but for now - we’re guessing a poll may help out. So let us know. Would you buy a Pontiac G8 if it was rebadged as Chevrolet or Buick?

Reviewed: 2009 Nissan Cube has two sides to it

Every vehicle on this Earth is built for a specific purpose; the Miata for auto cross; the Corvette for 1/4 mile track events, the Lincoln Town Car for use as a limousine. The Nissan Cube seems as though it was specifically designed for Best Buy’s Geek Squad or those looking to be a little ‘different’ than the rest of the crowd. The vehicle’s precise balance of practicality, catchiness and pricetag make it the ideal service car, or the perfect solution for boxy vehicle lovers. One thing is certain though, whether out of delight or disgust, the design of the 2009 Nissan Cube definitely turns heads.

The first generation of the Cube made its debut in 1998 and shared the same platform and engine as the Nissan Micra. It was the perfect city-car sold only in Japan until the third-generation. When Nissan planned the second-generation, they decided the Cube could fit in other markets only if they make it a bit larger and attractive. Come the third-generation, Nissan decided to unveil the 2009 Nissan Cube at the 2008 LA Auto Show and announced that the car will soon be available to the U.S. and Canadian markets. Well, here it is, the 2009 Nissan Cube and it sure is a funny looking thing

Aston Martin Vanquish

The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is a supercar manufactured by Aston Martin since 2001. It rose to fame after being featured as the official James Bond car in Die Another Day, the twentieth James Bond film. In the film, the Vanquish has the usual Bond film embellishments, including active camouflage which rendered the vehicle virtually invisible. The Vanquish is powered by a 5.9 L (5935 cc) 48-valve 60° V12 engine, which produces 343 kW (460 hp) and 542 N·m (400 ft·lbf) of torque. It is controlled by a fly-by-wire throttle and a 6 speed 'paddle shift' or semi-automatic transmission. A special V12 Vanquish S debuted at the 2004 Paris Auto Show with the power upped to 388 kW (520 hp) and 577 N·m (426 ft·lbf).

Mercedes SLR McLaren

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is a sports car and supercar automobile co-developed by DaimlerChrysler and McLaren Cars. It is assembled at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. Most people presume "SLR" to stand for "Sportlich, Leicht, Rennsport" (German for "Sport; Light; Racing"). The car's base price is £300,000 or $455,500. The SLR has a supercharged 5.5 (5439cc) litre dry sumped 90 degree V8. It produces 466.8 kW at 6500rpm (626 hp) and 780 N·m (575 ft·lbf) torque at 3250 - 5000 rpm.

Maybach

The Maybach 57 and 62 were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since the brand's revival by DaimlerChrysler. They are derived from the Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motorshow (which was based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan). DaimlerChrysler attempted to buy the Rolls-Royce/Bentley marque when Vickers offered the company up for sale. When this attempt failed (they were outbid by BMW and Volkswagen respectively) they introduced the Maybach as a direct challenger in 2002. Both models are variants of the same ultra-luxurious automobile. The model numbers reflect the respective lengths of the automobiles in decimetres; the 57 is more likely to be owner-driven while the longer 62 is designed with a chauffeur in mind. The engine is a Mercedes-sourced 5.5-liter twin-turbo V12, generating 550 hp.

Koenigsegg CCX

The Koenigsegg CCX is the latest supercar from Koenigsegg. CCX is an abbreviation for Competition Coupe X. The CCX is intended to be more suitable for the U.S. market and thus engineered to comply with US regulations. The CCX is powered by a Koenigsegg designed and assembled, all aluminium, 4700 cm³ DOHC 32-valve V8 based on the Ford Modular engine architecture enhanced with twin Rotrex centrifugal superchargers with response system, 1.2 bar boost pressure and an 8.2:1 compression ratio. The engine produces 806 hp (601 kW) and 678 lbf.ft (920 Nm) on 91 octane (U.S. rating) gasoline, 850 hp (634 kW) on 96 octane (Euro
