Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Roadster - Top Down at 200+ MPH!

The "wind in your hair" just got a new meaning with the first teasers of Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, a "Targa top" roadster and the newest Bugatti Veyron from the Italian supercar manufacturer, which continues to titillate the automotive world with ultra low-run Veyron special editions. While details are scarce until the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport official unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance later this month, what we do know is that the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is not a fully convertible model, rather employing a removable glass roof mechanism similar to the one in the new 2009 Porsche 911 Targa, except in the case of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport the roof must be removed manually. The "convertible" Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, as the roadster edition will be called, is little changed otherwise from the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. It makes sense for Bugatti to go with the removable glass roof "Targa" style Veyron rather than a true convertible, because driving a Veyron, roll bars or not, at the speeds the Italian supercar is capable of in true open-top form--think Lambo Murciealgo Roadster for those with suicidal tendencies--would be just to difficult to achieve while still keeping the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport's occupants safe. As detailed in the brief Bugatti official news release, reprinted in whole below, the manufacturer of what is perhaps the world's most desirable supercar has taken great strides with the Veyron Grand Sport Roadster to make sure that even in psudeo-convertible form, the supercar offers the maximum safety possible to its occupants.
